Your time is valuable, and SCT wants you to get back to tuning as soon as possible. SCT unlocks made quick and easy. Below are the steps needed to get an unlock for your SCT X4 or BDX Performance Programmers.
- Aspirated combination of parts, you will need to obtain a custom tune from an SCT dealer. The X4 programmer is flexible enough so that your original investment will not be lost – it can be. Open SCT Device Updater software that you just installed, there will be a shortcut icon with a white ‘U’ on a red background on your desktop.
- Run the Update Agent. Connect the Micro SD card to your computer. Choose the vehicle application and let the Agent search. Click the Update button. When the Update is finished, put the Micro SD card in the GT. Update the GT Platinum from the SD card by choosing Update GT Software, or Update GT Firmware on the Main Menu.
- First Post here and unfortunately it's because of trouble with my X4 Tuner. I came back from a deployment and apparently missed out on 2600 Files worth of updates on my X4. I downloaded the device updater and got it up to date wise there. Every time I check for updates with the software I'm green across the board.

X4 and BDX require different processes to obtain unlock.
X4 PROCESS
The following steps require you to have the SCT Device Updater Software installed on your computer.
- Purchase your remote unlock via the steps above.
- Connect your X4 to your PC using a Micro USB™ cable. SCT does not offer support for Apple computers at this time.
- Open the SCT Device Updater Software.
- Click “Automatically Check for Updates”.
- Confirm the update by pressing the “Update Now” button. The update will now begin.
- Let the updater run until it says, “Your device is now up to date.”
- Once the X4 has been updated, it has also been unlocked and is ready to use.

BDX PROCESS
- Purchase your remote unlock via the process above.
- Power up your BDX Performance Programmer. Please note that this will need to be done in the vehicle within the range of your WiFi.
- Scroll down to “Device Settings” and press the center button to enter the menu.
- Select “Check For Updates” *If your device is not connected to WiFi, you will be prompted to connect.
- Press confirm on the vehicle confirmation screen and then follow the on-screen prompts.
- Once the update has finished, your device is unlocked and ready to be used in the vehicle again.
